Bio: Far from the center of the galaxy lies the twin-sunned, desert planet Tatooine, homeworld of Rebel Alliance hero Luke Skywalker. Geographically, the rocky Jundland Wastes span a vast area of the planet and include sights such as the Dune Sea and craggy Beggar's Canyon, where the young Skywalker maneuvered his T-16 skyhopper. (Taken from the figure's box.)

Image: Adam's toy shelves.

Commentary: One of many "new sculpt" figures to be released in 1998, this Luke Skywalker is a recreation of the young Jedi during the skirmish above the Sarlacc pit. Unfortunately, there were a lot of Jedi Luke resculpts starting in 1998-- there was this one, one with the Rancor, one with the Jedi Final Duel set, and another with the Tatooine Skiff. This one is distinctive in that it's a little dirty, and he has no blaster mark on his hands. With the basic six points of articulation and a new (for the time) wrist joint, this was a pretty spiffy figure for a little while, but after the newness wore off, fans realized it was just another Luke resculpt and that the best was still yet to come. The deco is acceptable, but the figure itself is nothing special, and certainly nothing to worry about adding to your collection if you're already covered in Jedi Luke Skywalker figures.

Collector's Notes: It was $20 at release, and hard to find too-- with clearances and the glut of product, now it's easy to find and pretty cheap. If you want a Complete Galaxy set, you can get this unique figure without too much trouble on the secondary market. The globe it comes with is arguably more interesting than the figure, and is what makes this figure particularly interesting.
