Commentary:
Someone recently asked me "do you have any regrets in collecting?" B2EMO might be it. Is it a bad figure? No. But I got B2EMO [FOTD #2,995] the first time for $15 back in 2022, and this is the same figure minus some dirt, some green, and a blue droid leg. You don't need both, unless you need the droid part. And you probably do.

Since Disney shorted the market - twice now - fans who just want the droid should probably go after The Black Series version, which seemingly nobody wants. (It is my unconfirmed belief that 3 3/4-inch fans are more hardcore, and 6-inch fans are more casual. For now. This might change in 10 years as collectors turn 70.)

If you missed the figure the first time, he's pretty neat, but that was when he was around $23 shipped. Now he's around $33 shipped, which is kind of absurd given that you can get a 6-inch Cassian with B2EMO for the same price. Disney's 3 3/4-inch scale droid has four feet which can swivel or extend in front of and behind his body. The head can turn, plus it can telescope up slightly. There are four wheels, but they really don't roll well - Disney would be well-served to trim them out of future droids and cut costs. The sculpt is quite nice, and matches what you see on the show about as well as you might expect. It is also worth noting Hasbro has no 3 3/4-inch scale B2EMO figures - their only figure was a the 6-inch SDCC exclusive.

So what's new with this version?

Paint. Instead of silver damage, this new version has a lot of black wipes all over. I think this was a good call, but poorly executed. The model from the show had more of a "wash" effect with black dirt getting in his panels and grooves, which brought out the detail - and this figure does not. From a distance, though, it does look a smidgen better than version 1.0. This version also adds 3 green markings to the head, and changes the belly equator's pattern up while making it lighter green too. Side by side, it's easy to tell which one is new and which one is old. If you only had the first release, it's very possible you didn't notice they're different. Based on prop photos he could be even more beat-up and dirty, but that was not the way they went.

If Disney is feeling saucy, there's a "clean" variant from the Kenari flashbacks where B2 has non-worn green markings, all red feet, and a relatively clean body. It should require a retooled foot, but honestly, the green holiday B2 didn't retool anything. It looked fine with four green feet.

Given Hasbro has not really built up Andor as as toy line (no Syrill, no aliens, no prison stuff, no TIEs, and so on) you might not feel a need to buy this or collect that show's toys. It was pretty lacking, and people didn't show up for it - and I think the lack of toys kept some people from checking out the show, and the lack of toys prevented people from being excited to collect. It's very spare, and this guy - super popular B2EMO - was never sold widely in stores, online or off. He was always an exclusive. If you must have a toy of the character to go with your 3 3/4-inch figures, get this one. You can always sell off the blue droid leg to recoup your costs, if you aren't in to that. I don't think Hasbro would have necessarily done it any better, so kudos to Disney for fixing it up a bit. Having said that, at $20 (at the park) to $33 (by mail) you will unlikely feel you were sold this figure at a fair price. If Disney does another Droid Factory campaign to build a figure, I hope it is more original and less competitive next time because all six figures (plus BAF) will have cost me about $200ish. And I don't feel good about that.

Collector's Notes: I got mine from Shop Disney. It sold out online within an hour and shot up quickly on eBay, so check the theme park not near 95% of you.

Commentary:
There are lots of unopened figures around my desk from 2023 - not because they aren't good, but because I usually review about 2 figures per week (104ish a year) and we got a whopping 36 The Retro Collection figures in 2023. I got excited and prioritized most of those - leaving me to not open Director Orson Krennic until, oh, about two weeks ago. Since I already owned Rogue One Krennic [FOTD #2,300], I dragged my feet to open the new one. My enthusiasm for upgrades can be mixed, but I'm often very excited for downgrades. You may say "that's dumb" and to you I say "start your own review blog."

Hasbro used the same basic sculpt for all the Imperial Officers, so you'll recognize the same pants on numerous other figures like Thrawn and a lot of the folds and wrinkles in the tunic - which is a different tool - are similar between the various British white guys. Thanks to the cape, you're probably less likely to notice this. Hasbro's decision to go with plastic for the cape was the right move, as I assume cloth at this scale would not hang properly. It drapes well, but the more I think about it the goofier it feels. Very few people in the Empire tend to wear capes, so you have to wonder why Krennic and not Tarkin or Motti. Especially since it seems there's a pretty strict dress code. I see no open-toed shoes anywhere! But I digress.

I like the uniform and how it turned out. The white plastic is bright, and the blaster fits nicely in his right hand - but not his left hand. In the movies he's left-handed, but the left hand here isn't really designed to hold the blaster easily. He drops it. But, you can store it in the holster if you prefer. Be sure to have the grip facing forward so he can draw it with his left hand.

The 2016 toy has a good sculpt, but the paint on the rank pin was a little bit rougher as opposed to the 2023 figure which has individually painted rectangles. It also lacks the white stripe between rows - it's better. The face sculpt has printed detail that has that fancy face printing paint we all love, and it's just so good at conveying the sneer of arrogance that Ben Mendelsohn gave to the character. His hair is also vastly improved, with a brown molded plastic "wig" being given a touch of gray on the sides that looks increasingly familiar from my recent glimpses into the mirror.

Hasbro did a good job here. They leveraged their tooling library and existing digital sculpts to spit out an improved version of a figure who, at the time, was probably released both too late and too early. Andor and the upcoming anniversary of Rogue One undoubtedly will make more people interested in the figure if they missed it, and let me assure you it is the best version of the character at this size. However, the cape makes him a statue - the toy does not necessarily benefit from (or need) the articulation in this format. With a cloth cape you might have him kneeling down choking on his aspirations, but this figure's cape will make you want to leave him just standing around. All parties involved did a really nice job here and other than maybe fixing up that left hand, I would say Hasbro would do well to rerelease him with no changes in Andor packaging for season two. Unfortunately, it's too late for that, so go ahead and get this one off Amazon or eBay.

Commentary:
My interest in pretty much any Star Wars property goes up the more I can get my head around it - so action figures, trading cards, and guide books help a lot! With Andor season 2 on the horizon and this Dedra Meero figure likely meant to have been to help promote it, hopefully we'll get more merch so more of us can know the names that were sometimes hard to understand in the mix. Getting a figure makes it more interesting to care about the show, and what shelf she might go on makes you actually have some stake in paying attention. Or at least that's been my finding - if there's no figure, it's probably not an important character. (Not that there's anything wrong with obscure background nobodies, I love them too.)

Dedra Meero is good at her job. And she has annoying coworkers... and someone who probably wants to date her, who's a creep, and that takes some doing when you have an entire faction of awful, creepy people. As I write this, the show is set to hit late next month and we'll see if she stays with the Empire, joins the Rebels, or somehow gets blown out an airlock. What we do know is that Hasbro did a nice job translating her costume with plastic, with the top being a consistent white color (that matches Luke from the same wave) with a mostly good paint job, at least on my sample. The belt is left unpainted at the bottom - I assume it's a one-off - but that would mean she shipped to stores so I could see other examples of her. The rank badge and code cylinders look great, and Hasbro once again nailed a tiny pea-sized facial portrait. It's Denise Gough, but tiny!

In terms of articulation, she breaks no new ground and is perfectly fine. The wrists only swivel - there's no bend - and everything else is on par with other recent The Vintage Collection releases. It's great that Hasbro gave her thigh swivels and ball-jointed hips, but with the long tunic she may not be getting much use out of them. Heck, given the lack of vehicles and playsets, I'd argue most of the articulation is superfluous and were it not for the excellent sculpted detail and top-notch face paint, Hasbro could probably have made her with 5 or 10 joints, and most fans would never notice. Some loud ones would - but the bulk of this figure is being sold to adults, who will either never open her packaging or open her, stand her on a shelf, and never so much as look at the figure again. This is no fault of the figure, she's excellent, it's just the nature of the middle-aged collector to demand every last specification imaginable and then probably not make use of any of it. The quality is as good as you can expect to get these days - she even has a blaster!

With Dedra and a lot of streaming show figures, it's kind of unfortunate that they're all collector figures and there are few reasons for any kid to pick them up with the lack of "toy" elements. The glossy boots look good, the plastic selected for the face isn't too pale, and this is a figure that will probably be remembered as one of Hasbro's many excellent executions in this line. It's just that Andor gets such a small roster of figures that I would not be shocked if most fan ignore her, or forget they bought her, just because she's not part of a greater, growing collection. (I'd say "yet" but let's be honest, we're lucky to get 3 figures a year from any movie or streaming series anymore.)

If you're a fan of the show, and you enjoy Hasbro's excellent 3 3/4-inch action figures, I doubt you'll be disappointed with her. The hair is great, the pants are right, all she needs are some similarly dressed coworkers she can probably barely tolerate and you're all set. If she hits a store near you, consider picking her up to add to your hypothetical Andor collection. And/or cross your fingers Hasbro does some Kenner-style Andor or Rogue One figures before you decide to stop buying toys.

Commentary:
It is weird to be in an era where Hasbro can make a good figure, and I don't love it. The series Andor dared to alienate young fans with its lack of adventure and optimism, old fans with very dark and often mumbly visuals, and Star Wars fans by mostly going out of their way to keep out the toy-friendly robots, aliens, droids, and ships that grease the capitalism wheels that keep this franchise going. It's not a bad show at all - it's just not fun. The math doesn't work out great for Luthen Rael in that he's from a classic trilogy era, but not in that size or style, and on a show that reportedly a lot of fans didn't finish watching. It's important to repeat: Hasbro did a nice job here. He's just so drab.

Speaking of capitalism grease, this is a $25 figure and Hasbro did make sure they put in extra joints and all of that stuff. But none of it enhances the figure. Hasbro and Lucasfilm (and Disney Consumer Products?) collaborated on a sculpt that looks superb. It's totally Stellan Skarsgård's face, with his sneer and gravitas present. His hair has faded, his face has wrinkles, he's not a typical action hero and Hasbro did a top-notch job making him as an action figure. As fans of Star Wars get older, I have little doubt the machinery behind the franchise recognizes that you need to make sure you have characters and heroes older than the original fans to keep them on board - as soon as it ends up nothing but a bunch of kids, you might lose the old fans. That's why Luthen is cool - he's a heroic antiques dealer, plotting a rebellion, and has some of the best monologues of the show. He's also got the only really cool ship on the show, but we don't have a toy of that. But we do have an older man in suspenders, baggy waders, and a giant coat with cut-open sleeves. It both looks like a lot of things we've seen before in a general sense, but also I don't think I can name any other figure with these kinds of sleeves, or suspenders. He doesn't even have a holster - he's just some guy.

He can hold his blaster just fine, and he has a nice little stick with a dagger hidden in it. I don't remember it from the show - admittedly, I only watched the entire series once. The blade on mine is twisted around sort of like the pointy part of a screw, and I have no idea if it's supposed to be that way or not. Oh well. At least both accessories have some paint on him.

The over-engineered figure has great hip joints that are blocked by his coat since he can't sit. He has the typical shoulder joints, plus that newer one that lets them swing forward a bit - it's completely useless with the coat. He also has a double-neck joint with the collar of his shirt having a joint that really isn't visually all that great. Given the figure is mostly molded in color, I'd really like to have seen if Hasbro could have removed some of those shoulder and neck joints and perhaps an accessory to give us a figure at a $19.99 price point. They did a good job getting a lot of textures on this figure to look and feel good, with a little ore gloss on the figure than I'm used to seeing for The Black Series. I love gloss on The Retro Collection, but less so on fabric elements of my 6-inch figures.

As far as quality control goes, mine had a fused knee that took a lot to get to budge - it looks like the pieces may be melted together, perhaps destined to never bend. For $25 I have pretty high standards, but "the joints should all be able to move" seems like a pretty low bar to cross for success. The funny thing is if this figure came in a window box, I could see being disinclined to open it and would even recommend it - but you want to see him. What's the point of owning a closed box? I think fans of the show will enjoy this figure, but at $25 a whack I can't say I'm excited about drab-colored clothing on people, even if their faces are some of the best we've ever seen out of Hasbro. If you see this one on sale somewhere, I'd say it's probably worth it. Just check those knee joints before you throw away your receipt.

Commentary:
Sometimes you just wonder if there's serious contempt for action figure fans in an office building out there somewhere. It's not that Senator Mon Mothma is a terrible figure. She has a great head sculpt, the costume has excellent detail, and her articulation shows a lot of work went into her. It's just that someone, somewhere, forgot to mention that Mon Mothma action figures usually don't do great business and a figure that sees no action, with no accessories, and whose costume prevents most of that articulation from being used is probably going to prove ultimately problematic for sales. Mere weeks after release, sold auction listings on eBay were about $21 shipped - that's a sign of a problem. New figures are generally desirable and in short supply, when there's instant abundance you know that a problem could be brewing for the line, and in this case I don't think you can blame the plastic-free packaging.

Waves like this make me want to advocate for reducing The Black Series to only the top-tier face-in-the-poster characters for new shows and movies, and the most popular stuff from older shows. Cad Bane? Makes sense, and I hope he sells. But even popular characters like Luthen Rael - well, allegedly popular - can be bought on eBay already for $28 shipped, or less. Nobody's making money with prices that low once eBay's fees are paid, especially after you take the shipping box and actual shipping fee into account. These are not bad figures, but they're not fun, and like Indiana Jones the drop-off from the main character to the rest of the cast is pretty severe. It's also very possible in a few years, these will be sought-after collectibles after they're dumped and collectors realize nobody bought them.

Let's start with the good. Be it Hasbro or Lucasfilm, some sculptor provided an amazingly good sculpt with one of Hasbro's better faces. From some angles she looks a little like Gillian Anderson, but generally she looks like Genevieve O'Reilly. I assume we'll see even better face printing some day, but by today's standards she's a winner The eyebrows and hair color may not be perfect, but you can tell who it is. You're not left going "Well I guess it looks like Han Solo but I don't know if it's Harrison Ford," it's clearly the actress from Andor. The texture on her outfit is great, and the wrist and elbow joints work very nicely. The collar on her shirt is jointed and everything seems pretty well-hidden by her dress. In many respects, you have got to give it to Hasbro for making a figure with minimal paint yet somehow evoking multiple layers of fabric with nifty metal jewelry to boot. Her brooch looks excellent, as do her earrings. It's subtle, and my sample seems to be painted well. That's incredibly important during this weird interim plastic-free packaging area.

From the waist up, this figure is expressive and emotes well with her arms and head. You can get subtle nods with her head, and the hands move without much of a fight in her massive sleeves. And then the problems start. The figure has no waist articulation, and I honestly think they may have been better off going full "salt shaker" or "chess piece" here. She has hip joints. It looks like she has a thigh swivel. There are bend-and-swivel knees and rocker ankles. And you can't move most of them. My sample looks like the leg was assembled rotated strangely, and it's difficult (or for me, impossible) to get my fingers to swivel the upper leg in position, which results in leaning. More importantly, each of those pieces requires tooling and assembly, despite the fact they're functionally useless. All she can do is stand - which is one of the reasons I've been increasingly disinterested in The Black Series. Getting them to balance right can be tricky, but with no vehicles or playsets their sole purpose tends to be merely to serve as a collectible. In the box or on the shelf, you buy it, look at it, put it down, and that is the extent of your interaction with the product. If you have alternate heads or accessories, at least you can fidget with them a bit - but they're never going to go on any adventures, they will not inspire you imagination, all you can do is say "wow, they did a great job painting her!" and then go about your day. And, of course, you can pick her up if she should fall over because the ankle joints are a little weird. She has fallen over at least twice while I write this review.

She has no gear, nor should she. She wields vast sums of money and conspiratorial whispers - neither of which are compelling toy accessories, and that's where this figure continues to struggle to find a reason to exist in this format. She doesn't interact with any of the other figures released from this line in their current outfits (yet, anyway.) She has no cool accessories, antiques, or other curiosities from the show which could pad out the box to make the mostly-empty container seem worth $25. Again, that's not really Hasbro's fault, but they could have put a second Luke Skywalker in the case and made a heck of a lot more money here while making a lot of fans happy. If this wave hits stores in a big way, I assume she's going to be languishing on pegs for a long time. (And don't say it's not a problem - I know a Walgreens that still has 2015 Finns on the pegs.)

Luke, Din, and maybe the HK-87 droid should sell just fine. The rest of the wave will most likely be selling for below cost this summer and next to impossible to give away later this year. (Cassian was previously sold with a droid last year, which didn't sell out and was offered through other outlets.) I think Hasbro did their absolute best with Mon Mothma, with a character who was played well and given a performance that was tense and impossible to look away from, but that doesn't matter when your audience wants helmeted bad guys and weird monsters and beeping robots. You can try to appeal to actual four-year-olds and inner-four-year-olds' sense of a more adult show, but it's not going to get you merchandise sales. Normally I would say "get her at full price," but looking at the market as it is today? I am confident you can wait for a sale unless Hasbro destroys a portion of its inventory. Whatever the market is for these, Hasbro will probably have made too many which is kind of a shame. (And while I would have preferred a Retro wave of these characters, I freely admit I don't think they would have sold well either.)

Commentary:
Hasbro really phoned in Cassian Andor (Aldahani Mission). The Black Series one - which I skipped - is a bit better. The Vintage Collection release is a retool of a retool. You can see the mold marking on his foot for The Black Series 3 3/4-inch Shoretrooper C0665, so you can immediately tell that they reused those boots - and they're the wrong boots. The arms and torso are reused from The Mandalorian Morak figures Migs Mayfeld [FOTD #2,972] and Din Djarin [FOTD #2,971] from last year. Only Cassian's head, "skirt," and hat are new - he even lacks the blaster he had on the show. I know cost cutting is a thing, but this is ridiculous and somewhat insulting. (And I didn't even enjoy Andor all that much.)

Let's start with the good - if you're forced to reuse parts, other than the legs, they made sensible choices. You don't get the over-the-shoulder strap seen on the show, but the chest and shoulder armor are repuposed from previous series - it's good enough. It's just that without the strap, and the colors seeming off, it starts to be a problem. The older, not-as-good hip joints are annoying as getting them to move at all requires a lot of effort and makes this toy much less fun than newer releases since last year... or the old ones from the 1970s. The boots are completely wrong, but I guess they're counting on you not shoegazing during the murky, dour, shouty and sad episodes of the show. It reeks of "good enough," which is acceptable for a repaint wave. It's acceptable when figures were under $10. But this is $17, and if you're telling me Hasbro can't make a new figure when necessary for $17, perhaps they shouldn't be making collector lines. Even if the reason was to get this figure out the door quicker, it's important to remember that mediocrity is forever and there's a lot of forever mediocrity showing up lately, and what's so infuriating is the brand new figures are all excellent. Given how much money we're putting into collecting these things (and their repaints) I don't think asking for screen-accurate action figures is a lot to ask.

The face looks good. Cassian shaved during this part of the series, so he has a lot less scruff which is more or less picked up well by this figure. The new skirt pieces more or less matches the show, with the holster on the correct side of his body - they did a good job there. Also notable, his hat fits extremely well. That's a big plus. Over the years, helmets or hats that are too big, or heads that are too small, were frequently an issue. Hasbro's sculptors got it right here - it looks good and while it's a smidgen big, it fits well and it's not a hassle to get it to stay on. They did a good job here.

He has a short blaster which fits in the holster, but lacks the distinctive rifle which was called out on the show. There was even a whole scene on this slow-paced slog of a story making a fuss of how to hold these rifles. Given how important it was to the show, and that it appears on the cardback, its absence is a problem for me. I'd be more willing to overlook the wrong boots if he had the right blaster, and if he had the right accoutrements hanging over his torso.

When it comes to clones and droids, repaints and recycling parts are a sensible thing to do. In this case, they cut corners a lot and it shows. Just because you have existing tooling you can use, you shouldn't necessarily use it. The first two Andor figures are lingering on pegs off and on here as of early April 2023 when I write this. My hope is they'll all sell, as will this one, but I'm not going to lie to you - this is a half-assed figure. If you don't care that the colors don't quite match, that the armor isn't quite right, that the boots are wrong, and that he's missing a key accessory, you should happily buy this figure. So if you are a carded collector that never watched the show in the first place, go ahead and buy this figure, because clearly you are not a discriminating buyer. If it were 2006 or 2007, I'd say "wait a few years, they'll make a better one." Now? I doubt it. It's this or nothing, and given how much other, better things you can buy from Hasbro in this scale? Consider going with nothing.

Commentary:
Have you ever picked up a figure and had to look at it and go "I don't know if this is good or not?" That's where I am with Vel Sartha, a figure that was clearly developed in a time between Hasbro keeping to a $14.99 price point and the new $16.99 price point. Generally we've been seeing some "collector" figures come out missing a few paint applications for budget reasons during these transition phases, and Vel certainly seems to be one of them. Also she's a little weird in other ways - not bad, certainly not terrible, but disappointing relative to other women recently made by Hasbro.

With Bo-Katan Kryze and Fennec Shand, hasbro loaded up the figures with painted detail, at least two accessories, alternate heads, and even slightly more articulation for about the same price. Vel has only swivel wrists, so she was designed to hold the blaster like in her cardback photo - and that's it. Her hip joints are great, the bends in her elbows are better than average, her proportions look more "human" than "toy,"and the sculptors did a bang-up job with the garments and her face. She's just a little tiny, and there's not a lot in the package for the money. This would be a very good $8-$9 figure from another manufacturer. At Hasbro's 2023 pricing, especially since she's not part of a bigger line, it's hard to be enthusiastic. I also hate the mid-torso joint, especially at this scale. Vel has two places around her belt where you could put a joint and it wouldn't be an eyesore - so why put it smack dab in the middle of her chest? What's the benefit?

I love how they sculpted and painter her hair - her face was printed nicely, and the parts of her they elected to paint turned out well. You can see a little paint under her jacket collar, but her boots are all the same brown. Multiple shades of brown are on her coat in the show, but all they painted were rings around the cuffs of her sleeves. I assume Hasbro cut corners for budget reasons and assumed we wouldn't notice - and are probably, on the whole, right if that's the case. If you just display her on the package and call it a day, you won't notice, nor will you care - but the general engineering of the figure also teeters between "excellent" and "meh," so it's hard to know for sure what their intent was. Her hip joints let her sit in vehicles well, with a great range of leg movement - I couldn't ask for it to be better. And yet, her arms seem designed mostly just to point a blaster down. She's mostly excellent, but it's weird to see the tiny, specific wrists combined with the perfectly good leg joints.

As the only Vel Sartha in this size, and generally a good figure, I'd recommend her - but at $17 I would assume Hasbro is probably just dealing with a feedback loop of this scale's sales slowing a bit, so they drop features and raise prices, which cause sales to slow, and so on and so forth. Her blaster has extra silver deco hits which really pop and look gorgeous - also the butt of it pops off, so be careful. If the figure had those extra couple of paint jobs like her gun, I'd be praising it, but the all-the-same-brown coat looks pretty blah on a $17 figure. On the other hand, if Vel was a $10 Retro figure I'd say "perfect, don't change a thing." These competing expectations probably sound hypocritical, but I've got a lower barrier to "success" when it comes to cheaper, simpler figures. The Vintage Collection are premium priced and really should be premium quality - I should be impressed, and while Hasbro comes close I'm not amazed by what we got. Also she's tiny, and it's a little painful to know that if we get little guys like Yoda or a Jawa or R2-D2, there's a good chance they too will be expensive and underaccessorized.

Commentary:
If only one or two figures drop from a series, does it make a sound? It would've been great to have this Cassian Andor figure out while the show was streaming new episodes - or delayed until season two - but that's not how things go. Synergy is, weirdly, out as things feel increasingly corporate - heck, Mr. Andor knows all about that from fighting jackboot cosplayers from the Corporate Sector. While this is an excellent figure, it loses a little shine due to Hasbro's "less is less" strategy where we get generally insignificant quantities of characters from a new project since 2019. If we're lucky, we'll get a trickle over time - and if we're not, well, tally up the size of your The Rise of Skywalker collection.

If you want a 3 3/4-inch scale Cassian from Andor, go get this one before it gets expensive. Hasbro did a good job here. If you want to wait and see if Hasbro will give you the other characters from the show whose names you already forgot, I wouldn't hold your breath for a complete suite in every scale. I like how this one turned out though - the elbows bend more than 90 degrees! The jacket has the little hood on the back! He can even stand with a little fussing - he has the newer-style hip joints and more modern elbows, but the joints are a little stiff in spots. Not so stiff that he'll be a problem, but stiff enough that you may not just be able to plop him on a shelf and he stays upright.

The browns are a little richer and less muted than the photography of the costume, and I'm fine with that. I like the highly-detailed boots and the belt buckle is excellent. One thing that surprised me was that the costume seemingly has no holster - who knew? (Not me, is where I'm going.) He also has no problems holding his blaster - sadly, his only accessory. Given that this figure may be $16.99 at some stores due to Hasbro price increases, it's a stretch. When Vader has alternate hands, simply including one accessory feels insufficient at this price. It's a nice, unpainted blaster, but Kenner frequently gave us at least two per figure for $5 or $6 in the 1990s. Hasbro can come up with something.

The Diego Luna head sculpt is excellent. The beard color looks almost better here than on the shows, with a plastic "wig" that fits perfectly. The eyes are shiny and bright, the skin tone isn't nearly as pale as some figures, and he actually looks like who he's supposed to look like. Maybe I'm just more forgiving to Disney+ talent, but Luke doesn't always look like Mark Hamill and Han doesn't always look like Harrison Ford - but Cassian Andor sure as heck looks like Diego Luna.

Given there may not be much of a collection from Andor at this scale I am hesitant to suggest anyone collect it - three or four figures does not a collection make. But if you just want some one-offs, and an example of some of Hasbro's finest male human work at this size, get this figure. He looks good, the hands are sculpted well, the costume is complex and the joints are nicely hidden in the creases and folds of his various garments. Short of the accessory deficit, this is a quality figure - it just might not be worth the asking price now that we're inching toward $20 for something of this size.

Commentary: If you're an older fan and you like toy robots, you probably want B2EMO. The cynic in me sees this as the token cute merchandise character nearly every show or movie gets - and given this is one of every few Andor products you can by right now, I don't think it's unfounded - it is surprisingly hard to get. Hasbro's 6-inch scale B2EMO was meant as a "convention" exclusive, and this is the only other action toy so far. Funko also has one, which was also an exclusive. Weird, right?

The boxy (but good) robot seems like a predecessor to the astromech droid. He can grow taller if you pull him out of his crumpled-up mode, and he has a rotating dome and articulated feet with wheels. The design looks a lot like it does on TV, with the exposed panel on the side of the body and the uniquely shaped head. The wheels roll, the feet are a little wobbly - including one mismatched foot in school bus yellow - standard. The scuffing and rusted-out chassis tells droid thieves "not worth the trouble."

At $12.99 or less, I would say they nailed it as a Disney park souvenir - it's expensive, but it's a weird design with a short selling season. But it's $14.99, so it's overpriced. He's missing the green rectangles on his head, and the figure could have been served by more black "dirty" paint given the price increase over previous, similar droids. The telescoping body is nice and frankly necessary, but it's still a little guy at a price of a larger figure. He's too big to be a "sidekick" accessory, but it's definitely the kind of thing that would have benefited from being in a boxed set at a better per-figure price.

But naturally, none of this matter. What you care about is that a 3 3/4-inch scale B2EMO exists, it's official, it looks good, and it costs too stinking much on the secondary market thus rendering any of my misgivings moot. It sold out - so Disney won't care that some goofy fan thinks it isn't fancy enough to justify the asking price. At standard pricing I'd recommend it enough to get one, and if Hasbro makes a "Kenner" Andor series I would hope a weird B2EMO with a clicky dome and an awkward sticker or two can't be left out. It's weird that the most toyetic design on a decidedly toy-unfriendly series be given such a short run, but Disney shorted its first Pride Droid and that sort of thing really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

None of this is the fault of the designers, who I assume designed this to meet a $12.99 price point that inflation kicked up. To have this toy on-shelf before the series aired, I would argue it's a pretty good feat in 2022 and they're deserving of praise. But if Hasbro (or Disney) want to try a version 2.0 that has a tilting dome - rather than this one which only swivels - I'd like to see that too.

Collector's Notes: I got this through my pal Shannon. (Shop Disney sold out quickly.) Thanks Shannon!
